Effort: Fairly easy - some sewing required Materials:

Black leotard or black hoodie Black or striped tights Red fabric (felt works best) Black felt (for dots) Headband Black pipe cleaners Pom poms (red or silver) Pillow stuffing

Instructions: Make a large oval from the red fabric. Make a second oval, slightly smaller than the first. Stitch or hot glue the edges of the ovals together (leaving an opening for the stuffing), allow to dry. Stuff the oval to form the back of the ladybug. Stitch or hot glue the opening closed. Cut circles from the black felt and hot glue or stitch them to the red oval. Allow to dry. Stitch completed oval to back of black leotard. Use pipe cleaner and headband to make antennae, and apply pom poms to end of antennae. Dress child in tights, leotard or hoodie, and headband (if you don’t have a hoodie). Tips: Use stockings and stuffing to create additional legs. Attach to body of costume with safety pins. Same concept could be used for a spider, a butterfly, or a bumblebee. More Costume Ideas
