Vaping Marijuana May Hurt Adolescent Lungs More Than Smoking

Surveying about 15,000 adolescents who reported regular use of e-cigarettes, cigarettes, or cannabis, researchers found that those vaping marijuana were about twice as likely to report respiratory symptoms like wheezing, compared to others who did not vape marijuana. Those who used the other substances or products did have some respiratory symptoms, mainly dry cough, but not to the degree of those using e-cig marijuana. Potential Lung Injury The type of symptoms reported with vaping marijuana are more indicative of future lung injury than occasional dry coughs or throat irritation, according to the study’s lead author, Carol Boyd, PhD, co-director of the Center for Study of Drugs, Alcohol, Smoking & Health at the University of Michigan School of Nursing....

What Happens If Your Regular Ob Can T Deliver Your Baby

“Will your doctor be at the hospital?” she asked. I was confused by the question. “I assume so,” I replied. She told me that hers wasn’t, that her baby was delivered by the OB who was on-call when she went into labor. “Oh. I guess I should ask then,” I said. But even after this conversation, I still assumed my OB/GYN would be there. When I asked at my next appointment, I remember saying, “So when I decide to go to the hospital, I call you and you meet me there?...

I just wanted to be able to stay in the same home, stay at the same church, and have the same people to wake me up every morning....

What To Do If Your Child S Friend Is A Bad Influence

Avoid Criticizing Photo source: Pexels Your first line of defense might be to criticize your child’s friend. However, according to Kristin Wilson, National Director of Clinical Outreach at Newport Academy, a teen mental health treatment facility, its best to steer clear. “Teenagers can be very defensive of their friends, and you don’t want to engage in a power struggle,” she says. What To Know About Giving Your Child Non Dairy Milk

Why Milk Has Been Traditionally Recommended for Toddlers Chances are, you also grew up only being offered cow’s milk. It used to be that pediatricians encouraged milk for young and growing bones, thanks to the calcium found within whole milk. Alternatives were only suggested if you had a milk allergy. But now there are options for people regardless of allergies, and your pediatrician might feel differently about whole milk. “Milk can be a healthy option for those who wish to give it to their children, but children over the age of one can be perfectly healthy just drinking water, or drinking milk alternatives,” says Joel Gator, MD, a board-certified pediatrician and founder of Integrative Pediatrics in Studio City, Calif....

When Should You Reveal Or Announce Your Baby Name

There’s no “correct” way to go about naming children. For some, choosing a name early on in a pregnancy and sharing it with friends and family is a way to make the upcoming arrival feel more real. Why Gifted Students Are Targeted By Bullies

A review of studies on bullying and gifted students from 1970 to 2014 revealed that gifted students are victimized at similar rates as other targeted groups (sometimes slightly more, sometimes slightly less); however, they may be targeted for unique reasons, and may also respond to bullying differently…often more intensely and more prolonged. Why Gifted Kids Become Targets of Bullying One reason gifted students are bullied is because of their exceptional school performance, as well as the attention, resources, and opportunities that center around these high academic achievers....

Why It S Okay To Feel Bored As A New Mom

The fact is, even though your baby requires a lot of energy and attention, the tasks of infant care are pretty basic (at least in the beginning). Plus, infants spend up to 17 hours a day sleeping. Chained to the house with a conked-out kiddo, many moms find themselves wondering what to actually do all day....
